Superintendency Certificate (Graduate)

Become a leader both in and out of the classroom with the Superintendency Graduate Certificate from the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. This 12-credit certificate program is designed for current Executive EdD students at Temple and those who have completed a doctoral degree in K–12 education or school leadership at another institution. Upon completion, graduates will have met the requirements for the Superintendent Letter of Eligibility (LOE) from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Superintendents manage multiple schools within a district and serve as the point of contact for all administrative needs. They are a spokesperson to parents, an advocate for students and an authority figure for employees. Students enrolled in the Superintendency Graduate Certificate program will learn effective communication, ethical decision making and leadership capabilities.

Students in this program will

  • learn educational leadership and administration from experts in the field;

  • analyze competing perspectives on issues among schools and school districts; and

  • master the skills, values and personal attributes for effective and ethical leadership at the highest levels in educational organizations.

Career Opportunities

In recent years, we have seen educators retire in record numbers. There has never been more need for new leaders in the urban and suburban school districts. Temple University remains one of the few institutions in the Philadelphia area to issue the Superintendent Letter of Eligibility to students completing the program. As the Letter of Eligibility is required to assume a superintendent position in Pennsylvania, Temple University offers a streamlined process to advancing your career in the field.

Tuition & Fees

In keeping with Temple’s commitment to access and affordability, this Graduate Certificate offers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.
